Development on the land of Galtarlækur in the Hvalfjörður region

Due to changing circumstances, including the densification of Reykjavík, there is a high demand for beds.

and business areas of the city, and in recent years, companies have been increasingly moving their operations

measure outside the city. There appears to be a need for development of areas with access to good
loading port and large storage and warehousing areas in the vicinity of the capital area will increase.
With the introduction of Sundabraut and other planning plans in the capital area, it is likely that
activities in Sundahöfn are declining and a good transshipment port is needed to replace it. New

electrical connections, etc. Plot sizes range from 0.8 to 4 ha plots.
The aim is for the area to be developed according to the concept of green industrial parks where
Emphasis is placed on activities that fall under the circular economy framework, where efforts are made to maximize
value creation from the use of resources and preventing waste from production chains. It is expected
that the structure and operations benefit the economy, the environment and society.

Conditions in the area are in many ways suitable for development, but the gravel and soil are often not

ships and vehicles. It is planned that the area will house activities that will house warehouses, storage areas and
various types of service areas, for example due to port-related activities.

The conditions in the area are suitable for port construction, with deep water but short access to quays for embankments and dockyards. The pier could therefore accommodate large ships with deep drafts, such as large cruise ships and cargo ships. It is assumed that all ships will have the possibility of connecting to shore power,
which significantly reduces emissions and pollution from them.
Emphasis will be placed on good maintenance and finishing of plots. Earthworks will be carried out both along the highway
and boundaries, to reduce the impact of lighting and noise from the area as well as to level and beautify
landscape. The aim is for the area to be developed according to the philosophy of green industrial parks.
